Robert Hallewell is a founding member of Chiron Corp., an Emeryville CA biotechnology company that produces vaccines, diagnostic tests and pharmaceuticals. Robert received his Bachelors degree and D.Phil in the UK, and was a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF where he participated in the first production of Human Growth Hormone and Hepatitis B virus antigens by synthesis in bacteria. He has also held research or academic positions at Searle Laboratories, the Scripps Research Institute La Jolla and Imperial College London.
