Oral mucositis is the ulceration and inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth, most often caused by cancer treatment of the head and neck. order of supportive care by oncology nurses and patients characterize mucositis as the most debilitating aspect of
their treatment.

Yet current therapies for this $2 billion medical market
remain ineffective.

Recent medical research has indicated that 9 out of 10 mucositis sufferers can find relief and even prevention using extended humidification of the mouth. However, humidification systems used for this treatment are awkward adaptations from either CPAP devices or mechanical ventilator humidifiers discouraging patients from wearing them for the extended periods they require for full relief.
